Why Polypropylene (PP #5) Is the Standard Material
-
Most disposable fast food boxes are molded from food-grade polypropylene (resin code #5). PP tolerates hot-filled meals, refrigeration and short microwave reheating, resists oil and mild acids, and does not release Bisphenol A (BPA). Our PP boxes work across a -20 °C to 120 °C service range, so a box can be filled hot, chilled overnight and reheated the next day.
PET (#1) offers more clarity but is limited to ambient and cold food, and polystyrene (#6) softens at lower temperatures and should not be microwaved. For hot takeaway meals, PP is the safer specification.
Specification tip: look for the #5 mark and a microwave symbol on the base before approving a sample.

Choosing the Right Compartment Layout
The layout decides how well flavors stay separate, how much sauce a box can hold and how many boxes fit in a delivery bag. Match it to the menu first, then confirm lid and capacity.
| Layout | Typical Meal | Main Benefit | Check Before Ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single compartment | Rice with sauce, noodles, stir-fries | Largest free volume, best for saucy food | Rim sealing for liquids |
| Two compartment | Main dish plus side, rice plus curry | Keeps wet and dry foods apart | Divider height against sauce level |
| Three compartment | Rice, protein and vegetables | Portion control, no flavor mixing | Volume of each cavity |
| Round lidded | Soup, noodles, salad, catering | Even stacking pressure, easy filling | Carton space for round footprint |
| Children's bento | School and kids' menu meals | Right-sized portions, microwave ready | Microwave symbol and lid venting |
Single vs Three-Compartment at a Glance
-
Single compartment: the best choice for sauces, soups and noodle dishes because the whole cavity contains liquid, and it nests tightly for storage.
Three compartment: the best choice for balanced meals where rice, protein and vegetables must stay separate and portions must stay consistent.
Choose by menu, not by price. A separated bento reduces complaints about mixed flavors, while a single cavity reduces leak risk on liquid dishes.

Leak-Proof, Stackable and Delivery-Ready Design
A fast food box is tested by the delivery ride, not the shelf. Lid, rim and body are engineered together so the box stays closed in motion and stacks without crushing.
- Dualsealing ribs around the lid perimeter
- 60%warehouse space saved by nesting empty boxes
- 90%+transparency kept after 6 months of indoor light on UV-stabilized grades
- 1-3 minrecommended microwave time per heating session
The snap-lock structure gives an audible click when the lid is fully seated. Leakage is checked with vibration tests that simulate transport and tilt tests that simulate a bag carried at an angle. Standardized slots let empty boxes nest to save warehouse space, and stacked boxes carry load through the rim instead of the lid center.
Lightweight Wall Design and Carton Efficiency
-
Thin-wall injection molding keeps each box light, in the range of about 28 g to 55 g for standard PP meal containers, which is roughly 20 percent lighter than conventional materials. Lower unit weight reduces freight cost, and nesting profiles let more empty boxes fit into each carton and pallet.
The chart shows how carton quantity falls as capacity rises, a useful reference when planning pallet loads and storage space for mixed-size orders.

Customization, Tooling and the OEM / ODM Workflow
We adjust capacity, compartment layout, lid structure, color (white, black, transparent or Pantone matching), logo printing and carton packing, supported by in-house mold development for new cavity designs. Injection molding and thermoforming run on the same site.

- 2Open or loosen the lid so steam can escape.
- 3Use medium-low power and heat for 1 to 3 minutes per session, in short intervals if needed.
- 4Do not heat an empty box, and handle it with care because the surface becomes hot.
- 5Discard any box that shows cracks, deformation or discoloration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are disposable PP fast food boxes microwave safe?
Yes, for short reheating. Check the microwave symbol on the base, loosen the lid to vent steam, use medium-low power and heat for 1 to 3 minutes at a time. Black and clear PP boxes follow the same guidance.
Will the box leak when it carries soup or sauce?
Snap-lock boxes use sealing ribs and a fitted lid, and are tested with vibration and tilt. Press the lid until it clicks. For very liquid dishes, a single-compartment or round box gives the best containment.
Which layout is best for food delivery?
Choose by menu. Three-compartment bento boxes keep rice, protein and vegetables separate, two-compartment boxes suit a main plus side, and single or round boxes suit saucy dishes and soups. Stackable shapes pack more securely in delivery bags.
Should I choose a clear lid or a black base?
A clear lid lets customers see the food and suits delivery and counter sales. A black base gives a premium look and contrast for brightly colored dishes. Both can be combined, as in our black base with transparent lid design.
Can disposable fast food boxes be reused?
They are designed for short-term use. If a box is washed, use warm water below 60 °C with neutral detergent and keep it only while it stays intact. For long-term reuse, dedicated reusable meal prep containers are recommended.
Can you customize size, color and printing?
Yes. We customize capacity, compartment layout, color, logo printing and carton packing, backed by in-house mold development. Contact our sales team for minimum order quantities and sampling lead times.
